At Quin-Sea Fisheries Ltd., we take great responsibility in improving our in-house competence among staff and allowing our employees to grow and succeed within our organization. Our goal is to support value maximization by ensuring strong employee competencies and know how, high employee satisfaction as well as an efficient business system with strong supportive tools and lean processes. This training is in line with Royal Greenland’s strategic goal on providing education to our employees.

In a highly seasonal environment, attracting and maintaining key, skilled staff is a challenge. We believe continuous education and training will help retain employees in our sector as well as boost employee morale and enhance uniformity throughout the many plants in the organization.

This past week our Plant Managers, Production Managers, Quality Managers, and Supervisors took part in an extensive training program at the Marine Institute of Memorial University, where we focused on enhancing our employee skills. The advantage of having such a diverse group of participants allowed for strong engagement and workplace habits that will be adopted and transitioned to various areas throughout the plants.

The training was a combination of in-class instruction and hands on experience in the microbiology lab and MI’s pilot processing plant.  Course material focused on Food Safety Systems & PCP Development, Food Safety, Sanitation, & Microbiology, and Statical Process control. Participants were tested on the course curriculum in order to receive a certificate of achievement.
