Royal Greenland in exclusive meeting in Tokyo
Greenland took center stage this week as His Majesty King Frederik X participated in an official Danish business delegation in Tokyo, where Royal Greenland proudly represented Greenland at a major international event. Among the 19 Danish companies in the delegation, His Majesty personally chose to meet with just two – one of them being Royal Greenland.
The meeting took place at the Danish Embassy in Tokyo and became a memorable moment where Greenland and its people were truly in focus. In an informal conversation, His Majesty expressed his deep interest in and warmth toward Greenland, as well as his appreciation for Royal Greenland’s role as a national company with deep roots in Greenlandic society.
The King listened attentively as Royal Greenland shared stories of its long-standing relationship with Japan and how Greenlandic fishers continue to supply high-quality seafood to the Asian market with pride and deep respect for the ocean.
"It was an honour to meet His Majesty and to experience his genuine interest in hearing about Royal Greenland and about Greenland itself. We clearly felt his love for the country and his respect for the fishing industry," says Robert-Jan Treebus, EVP Sales at Royal Greenland, who represented the company at the meeting.
Later the same day, Royal Greenland also participated in a sustainability seminar, officially opened by His Majesty, where the focus was on the Arctic and the role of the ocean in global solutions. The King later visited Royal Greenland’s stand, accompanied by the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries.
Royal Greenland now looks forward to welcoming His Majesty to Greenland with the rest of Greenlandic society next week – a visit that is sure to inspire pride and joy across the entire country.
