Sustainable and eco-friendly smoked Danish salmon from Hirtshals
Royal Greenland’s new smoked Danish salmon from Hirtshals is of a very high quality and offers a unique eating experience. The salmon has a good bite and firm slices, which are easy to separate and arrange beautifully. The Danish salmon is ASC-certified, as it is farmed sustainably in an enclosed onshore facility.
Royal Greenland is now able to supply ASC-certified smoked Danish salmon from Hirtshals in northern Jutland. The salmon is sustainable, eco-friendly and of a consistently high quality.
- Sustainable: Danish salmon is ASC-certified, as it is farmed sustainably in an enclosed onshore facility. Here, the salmon live in seawater from the Skagerrak, which is let in and recirculated, so the salmon experience the same currents and conditions as in the open sea. This produces strong and healthy fish with a firm meat texture.
- Eco-friendly: Danish salmon is an eco-friendly product. All the water is cleaned before it is returned to the Skagerrak, while the waste products are recycled as natural fertiliser and biogas material.
- Uniform high quality: The salmon are carefully selected on the basis of colour, size and fat content. The salmon is slow-smoked over beech woodchips, and has a beautiful uniform colour, firm texture and a deep smoke flavour.

The salmon is sliced and ready for serving in starters, salads, sandwiches or as a buffet dish. The firm slices are easy to separate and arrange beautifully.
