Seafood & Health

Seafood is perfect nutrition

Seafood is a good source of protein, but it also provides nutrients that are difficult to get elsewhere, such as omega-3 fatty acids and selenium.

Seafood contains healthy nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, iodine and vitamin D. These particular nutrients can be difficult to get enough of from other food items.

Seafood is healthy because it contains essential nutrients in rich amounts, but the composition of these nutrients varies, depending on the species. Moreover, seafood is a good source of protein and is also low in unhealthy saturated fats.

Omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA). They are an essential component of the human diet because our bodies cannot make them. These fats are necessary for proper brain growth and development. Omega-3 fatty acids are most abundant in deep-water fatty fish and in some plant oils. They have anti-inflammatory effects on the body and may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of numerous conditions.

The omega-3 fatty acid content varies greatly among different species of fish. Cold-water fatty fish have the highest content of omega-3 fatty acids because their physiology, environment and diet promote omega-3 fatty acid production in their flesh.

Iodine

Iodine is one of the hormones in the thyroid gland, which regulates the body's metabolism.

Selenium

Selenium is important for the body's immune system and there is great focus on
the importance of selenium with regard to cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is particularly important for the absorption and metabolism of calcium
in bones and muscles. A lack of vitamin D increases the risk of osteoporosis

Fat in fish

Fat in fish

1) Fat is not evenly distributed all over the fish - the fat content actually decreases from the head and in the direction of the tail ... 2) The level of fat depends on when the fish is caught. Most fish are leaner after spawning, as they grow "fatter" up to the next spawning.
